Day Twenty - Vevey, Switzerland

Day Twenty – Vevey, Switzerland

Switzerland is officially the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. Caitlin and I decided we’re buying winter homes here someday.

This morning, we all went to Chateau Chillon which is an ancient castle from the Middle Ages! I don’t know if I’ve ever been somewhere that old before (or at least that I can think of right now) so that was pretty cool. We got a guided tour and learned a lot about the history of the castle and the area. The castle sits right on the edge of Lake Geneva, across from the Alps so it has a spectacular view! And we got to walk around the lake to get there and I felt like I was walking through a postcard the entire time!

After that, we all decided to get economical since Switzerland is so expensive so we went to the grocery store to buy lunch for the rest of the week! I felt so grown up. Can’t wait to do that next year with my townhouse roomiessss (shout out to Laura, Courtney, and Haley!)

Then, after eating lunch, a few of us decided to take a train up the mountain to see a better view. So after an hour or so of train riding (and almost getting hit by a train…that was too close of a call!), we reached a quaint little town at the end of the railroad. We wandered around for a little bit, took pictures of the magnificent view from up on the mountain, then headed back down to eat dinner at the hostel!

After dinner, Caitlin, Drew, and Marley and I decided to go out for ice cream! We walked alongside Lake Geneva and found a little ice cream shop so I ordered my favorite European ice cream: Stracciatella mmm it had been too long! We sat on little chairs that were perched in the rocks by the water and we just sat and talked as we watched the sun set. I think this was one of my favorite nights on the trip so far. It was such a beautiful view and delicious ice cream and great company. These are the nights I know I’m going to remember and tell my children about someday.

Until next time,

MC
