Day Three at Sea

Day Three at Sea:

What another wonderful day! The boat has been rocking a lot all day today so sometimes it’s a little difficult not to fall over but I actually kinda like when it rocks haha.

We went to breakfast and class this morning and our assignment was to interview a crew member and talk to them about what it is like accommodating people of different cultures and things like that and Eric was my partner for this assignment so we talked to a guy from India who works in the photo shop. He had such a great outlook on diversity and people from all different countries and contexts and I learned so much from him. Then we went to lunch and on our way, Eric and I got asked twice if we were married and one guy told Eric he was very lucky cause I was so beautiful (so I guess Austin you can inadvertently take that compliment? Haha). Lunch was wonderful as always. I have a cup of coffee at every meal because their coffee is AMAZING – Anna and Morgan, you would LOVE it.

After lunch, Caitlin and I shopped around the jewelry store a little bit. Although we decided to save our money for Europe, they had some really good stuff for great prices. Anna, it reminded me a lot of Premiere Jewelry – you would’ve LOVED their bracelets, especially.

Then we had our travel and tourism class – it was really interesting as well! We got out early to go to flash mob rehearsal which was SO much fun. They do a great job planning activities that are fun and appropriate for all ages. There were so many different age groups in there and it was a blast dancing to everything from Michael Jackson to Beyonce. Then, Caleb and I stopped by the ballroom class for a little bit since they were learning Waltz today. Although Caleb and I had never danced the waltz together before, the instructors actually cleared the dance floor for us and had us show everyone how to do it because they thought we were so good. I feel like a little piece of me comes alive when I get to ballroom dance and I’ve missed that so much. It’s like the entire world stops and there’s not a care in the world when I’m waltzing and I’m pretty sure I could do it for hours on end and never notice. Caleb and I have had several people come up to us and ask if we were professionals at this point.

Then after that, our whole group hit the pool and we had the best time taking pictures with my underwater camera. We keep making new friends with the elderly crowd everywhere we go and one lady at the pool taught me how to do my hair in the COOLEST way. Anna I can’t wait to show you how to do it – it’s amazing. I told her about Pinterest because it looked like something that would be on there haha.

Then we got all glitz’d up for dinner because it was formal night woohoo! We had a wonderful dinner – this food literally gets better every night – and our waiter even taught us some parlor tricks! They were really really fun – I’ll show you all when I get back :P

Then after dinner we went to a reception with the Captain that all the patrons were invited to and that was cool to talk to him for a bit. Then we went to a MAGNIFICENT show in the theater! It was called “West End to Broadway” so it was hits from London to New York and it was AMAZING. I have to confess the theater geek in me was jealous because I do miss performing. My little friend from the Liberty Square in the Magic Kingdom stole the show – dad you would have LOVED this show! It was SO good and the vocals were incredible. I couldn’t help but sing along when they broke into “On My Own” from Les Mis – Mom, remember when I sang that solo in show choir? Jaclyn if you're reading this you would have DIED!!

After the show we were all pretty exhausted so Caitlin, Emily, Rachel, Ari and I went and walked around for a little bit and got a late night snack by the pool and just chatted. I really got to learn more about these girls tonight and where they come from and who they are. I’m learning so much on this trip already, yes academically, but also just how to appreciate everyone for who they are and where they come from. That’s not something I’m naturally good at since I’ve mainly been around people just like me my whole life – Austin, this is something you are great at and I’ve really had a chance to practice this week. I can already tell in 3 days how much this experience is going to grow me into being a better person and that sounds weird and cheesy unless you actually experience it then you know what I mean.

Anyways, I’m exhaustedddddddd so until next time!
